About the role

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Field Testing Intern to join our Building Enclosure Testing team in York, Pennsylvania. This internship offers hands-on experience in the building enclosure testing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field testing projects and building envelope testing under the guidance of experienced team members
  • Support building envelope field testing through chamber construction and testing per ASTM and AAMA test standards and specifications
  • Absorb site observations, documentation, and data collection
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams regarding site observations, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting activities
  • Prepare accurate and concise project documentation and reports
  • Aid in project coordination activities including planning, scheduling, execution, and reporting
  • Aid in searching through project specs to find testing opportunities and help prepare quotes
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients and project team members while developing industry knowledge and practical experience

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in construction, engineering, architecture or a related field
  • Comfortable working with elevated platforms
  • Desire to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc. and their installation means and methods
  • Ability to learn and comprehend testing standards
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet changing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Good computer skills – Microsoft Office & Outlook
  • Routine lifting of a minimum of 50 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, crawling, pushing and pulling as needed
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required)

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, local travel most weeks, Monday through Friday, with shared company transportation or travel accommodations provided for work-related travel.
