About the role

Safety Intern At Pilgrim’s, Safety Is A Condition, which means the safety of our team members comes first—always. During this internship, you will use your unique perspective and knowledge to help us find safety gaps and improve process efficiency in a way that makes a genuine mark on our business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the safety and occupational health team.
  • Aid in improving accident and illness prevention programs.
  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports to management.
  • Help with Workers’ Compensation and safety committees.
  • Investigate accidents and track corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and promote safety awareness.
  • Perform regular plant safety inspections.
  • Aid in managing safety programs (exposure control, hazard communication, respiratory protection, hearing conservation).
  • Ensure compliance with safety laws and company policies.
  • Help set standards for PPE and machine guarding.
  • Support ergonomics program development.
  • Review and approve new or modified equipment for safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • Education: Enrolled in a four-year university or pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field.
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
