About the role

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Associate Tool Engineer to support their Clearfield Facility in Utah. This role involves concepting, designing, and engineering tooling and equipment for aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with review team to ensure customer satisfaction with design
  • Manage projects and coordinate all procurements and fabrication to meet program cost and schedule requirements
  • Inspect fabricated support hardware to ensure compliance with design
  • Work alongside the manufacturing team to ensure overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved
  • Work with internal customers to define needed support equipment for new and existing programs
  • Develop tooling concepts, creating/reviewing, and improving manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements
  • Work closely with tool designers to create final drawings
  • Perform stress analysis to ensure mechanically sound per NG requirements
  • Understand and monitor cost and schedule
  • Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability
  • Support continuous improvement
  • Support operations and process engineering in the use of all tooling

Requirements

  • Bachelor in a STEM discipline
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
  • Able to travel to suppliers to support them during fabrication (up to 10%)

Skills

  • Tooling design and analysis experience
  • Experience with hand calculation analysis and Finite Element analysis practices
  • CAD modeling experience
  • Experience with concept of design for manufacturing
  • Experience with various inspection methods and understanding design for inspection
  • Hands-on fabrication and manufacturing experience
  • NX modeling experience
  • Abaqus Finite Element Analysis FEA experience
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience
  • Tolerance stack calculations

Pay

Annual salary range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00
