2026 Associate Software Engineer/Software Engineer
This position will be located at our Aeronautics sector in one of the following locations: San Diego, CA, Palmdale, CA, El Segundo, CA, Redondo Beach, CA, Oklahoma City, OK, or Grand Sky, ND. Relocation assistance may be available. A Top Secret clearance is required to start, and travel is expected (10% of the time).

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determine computer user needs.
- Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
- Prepare operating instructions.
- Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensure software standards are met.
Requirements
This requisition may be filled at either an Associate Engineer Software (T01) or Engineer Software (T02) level.
Associate Engineer Software (T01)
- Be completing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026.
- Majoring in or have majored in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar STEM degree.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required).
- Final approved U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access may be required to start.
Engineer Software (T02)
- Be completing or have completed a Master’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026 or be completing or have completed a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have 2 years of software experience by August 2026.
- Majoring in or have majored in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar STEM degree.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required).
- Final approved U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access may be required to start.
Preferred Qualifications
- Overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
- Previous internship, co-op, or other work experience.
- Leadership and teamwork capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional, community, or extracurricular activities.
Pay
Associate Engineer Software: $60,600.00 – $111,000.00
Engineer Software: $73,100.00 – $134,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
