About the role

The Yearbook Teacher position at Paradise Valley High School is an interim role spanning from July 27, 2026 to May 27, 2027. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the instructional process, focusing on academic and skill development, supervision, lesson planning, collaboration, and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Administers subject-specific assessments and tests to assess student competencies.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians on student progress, communicating expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
  • Affirms student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals by providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to enhance overall student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
  • Counsels students or refers them to appropriate school personnel to improve performance, health status, problem-solving techniques, and personal issues.
  • Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners to provide an effective program addressing individual student requirements.
  • Differentiates classroom work to provide instructional materials tailored to individualized learning within established lesson plans.
  • Directs student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to ensure an effective classroom program and meet individual student needs.
  • Instructs students to improve their success in academics through a defined course of study.
  • Maintains oversight of students in various educational settings (classroom, campus, field trips).
  • Participates in a variety of meetings, including district, staff, departmental, and PLC team meetings.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials such as grades, attendance, anecdotal records, and reports.
  • Reports health and safety issues to assigned administrator and relevant agencies.
  • Responds to emergency situations and inquires from various sources.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in a job-related field, an Arizona Teaching Certificate appropriately certified in core content areas, and an SEI endorsement are required. Clearances, including a criminal background clearance, are necessary.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment, and using pertinent software applications; understanding of appropriate codes, policies, regulations, and laws; knowledge of age-appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, stages of child development, and behavioral management strategies; familiarity with assessment instruments and techniques; ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships; adaptability to changing work priorities; confidentiality; tact and patience; working flexible hours; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; adherence to district policies and procedures.
