The Assistant Coach is responsible for designing and implementing program activities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to the sport; providing supervision of student athletes during all aspects of their participation in program; using sound instructional techniques in overseeing program; serving as a positive role model to student athletes to the community, and to various organizations. Individuals in this position are assigned to a specific sport at the Varsity, JV/Frosh or Junior High level. This role reports to the Athletic Director.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student athletes to provide feedback on individual performance and/or determine team placement.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. to receive and convey information related to the role.
  • Communicate with parents, students, officials, administrators and community to provide information, assistance and/or direction.
  • Instruct student athletes to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Maintain records (e.g. game/student athlete statistics, insurance, signed permission forms, emergency information, schedules, equipment inventories, etc.) to comply with district, athletic conference, and state requirements.
  • Manage uniforms, equipment and school facilities to maintain items in a responsible and safe manner.
  • Monitor student athletes' academic eligibility to comply with AIA requirements and provide appropriate intervention (e.g. counseling, tutoring, etc.) to students needing assistance to maintain athletic eligibility.
  • Supervise student athletes during all areas of participation to ensure activities are conducted in an environment with minimal risk of injury.
  • Teach sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and playing tactics to prepare the team and individual student athletes for competition.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Qualifications

Experience: Job related experience is required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Salary: $2,431.00

Schedule: Temporary, FTE 1.0. Season dates: 11/2/2026 - 2/6/2027.
