About the role
The Teaching Assistant 2 positions at Harding Senior High School are aimed at supporting students with disabilities in general education settings. These roles involve assisting with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and sensory plans. Additionally, they assist in implementing functional skills training and maintaining school facilities.
Responsibilities
- Aid in implementing student IEPs, 504 Plans, BIPs, and sensory plans.
- Support the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classrooms and environments.
- Record data on students' IEP objectives and BIPs for monitoring and adjusting programs.
- Assist students with completing functional skills such as feeding, dressing, toileting, and other self-help activities.
- Maintain toileting areas and equipment.
- Set up meal areas and equipment.
- Work with teachers to provide communication system therapy and discipline across the school day and in all environments.
- Be mobile and move around classrooms and the school to meet the varied needs of students.
- Complete third-party billing daily.
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and de-escalation strategies to avoid conflicts.
- Be trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and use appropriate physical intervention techniques only when necessary.
- Support students during field trips.
Other requirements
- Train in Special Education Orientation.
- Train and maintain NVCI and bus safety certifications and CPR.
- May require bus duty, including helping students with disabilities board and exit the bus, ensuring safety, and implementing behavior intervention plans.
Work schedule, pay, and benefits
This is a 10-month position working 35 hours per week. The pay range for this position is $21.63 - $26.28 TA2, with a maximum hiring step of Step Four (4). The full salary schedule is detailed in the Teaching Assistant contract.
