This role involves oversight and management of the district’s special education evaluation processes to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. The position provides leadership, training, and support to campus staff regarding evaluation procedures, data collection, and individualized education program (IEP) development.

About the role

  • Coordinate and monitor all initial and reevaluation activities across the district
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, state special education rules, and district policies
  • Provide professional development and coaching to evaluation staff and campus administrators
  • Manage the evaluation timeline tracking system and maintain accurate records
  • Serve as a liaison between the district, families, and outside agencies regarding evaluation services
  • Analyze evaluation data to support instructional programming and placement decisions

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support a team of licensed special education evaluators
  • Review and approve evaluation plans, full individual evaluations, and eligibility reports
  • Conduct file audits to ensure documentation meets legal and regulatory standards
  • Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration to streamline the evaluation referral process
  • Compile and present district evaluation data to leadership and stakeholder groups
  • Assist in the development of district improvement plans related to special education

Requirements

  • Current Texas certification in Educational Diagnostician or Special Education
  • Master’s degree in special education, educational psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in special education evaluation or diagnostic services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and state special education laws
  • Experience managing evaluation timelines and compliance documentation

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and data management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Skilled in using student information systems and special education software platforms
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
