2026-27 Substitute Pool
This pool is for candidates interested in applying to be a Licensed Substitute and/or a Classified Substitute. Recruitment for this pool will begin in September 2026. Applications submitted before then will remain on file and be reviewed once hiring begins. New substitutes must complete the hiring process, including attending an interview and orientation, before they are eligible to accept substitute assignments.
Licensed Substitutes
Replace a regular classroom teacher in the event of an absence. Must hold a valid Colorado Teaching License or Substitute Authorization issued from the Colorado Department of Education. Prior experience working with students in a classroom setting is preferred.
- Salary: $145-$165/day (see the website for a breakdown of the pay tiers)
- Substitutes for Mountain Schools will be compensated for their mileage at 83.75 cents per mile
- Hours/day: Half day (up to 4 hours/day) or full day (more than 4 hours per day)
- Work calendar days: Varied

Classified Substitutes
Replace the classroom paraprofessional or clerical employee in the event of an absence. No teaching license is required for classified substitutes. Additional training is required for the positions marked with an *.
