Position Summary
A teacher will provide hands-on, project-based STEM curriculum that students will learn to apply math and science to real-world situations, developing problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and teamwork skills that 21st century employers identify as critical.
Qualification Requirements
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Math and/or Science preferred, but not required
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum review and design
- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Achieve the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
- Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Reading, Special Reading)
- Effectively implement district initiatives and collaborate with department and grade level teachers
- Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above
Language And Grammar Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
- Frequent talking or hearing
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds, frequently lifting and/or moving more than 100 pounds, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles
- Frequent exposure to high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Occasionally required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned
