About the role

The Instructional Assistant/SUN Kids Preschool HQ - Special Education position supports the instructional program at Palomino Primary School. This role involves assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Administers tests, homework, and make-up work.
• Assists medically fragile, physically disabled, or developmentally delayed students.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations.
• Communicates with supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents.
• Escorts students to various locations.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team.
• Intervenes in potential conflicts.
• Documents instructional materials and files.
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment.
• Provides instruction to students in individual and group activities.
• Remains with students at all times.
• Responds to emergency situations.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED.
• One of the following:
• 60 postsecondary hours of college coursework;
• AA degree;
• Passing of ParaPro Assessment ETS.
• Passing of ACT Workkeys or The Master Teacher Para Educator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Job related experience is desired.
