2026-27 Science Teacher - Greenway MS

About the Role

The Science Teacher at Greenway Middle School is responsible for supporting the instructional process by developing student success in academics, specifically in science. This includes supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans, collaborating with staff and administrators, and communicating with parents regarding student progress.

Responsibilities

• Administer subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competencies.
• Advise parents and guardians on student progress, achievements, and methods for improvement.
• Guide students to improve performance, health, problem-solving, and personal issues.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, district resources, parents, and community partners to enhance student outcomes.
• Demonstrate engaging pedagogical approaches tailored to individual student needs.
• Differentiate classroom instruction to address varied learning styles within established lesson plans.
• Direct student teachers, assistants, volunteers, and student workers to support classroom needs.
• Instruct students in science to ensure academic success.
• Manage student behavior to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Monitor students in classrooms, on field trips, and at school events to ensure safety.
• Participate in meetings (district, staff, departmental) and PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
• Prepare documentation such as grades, attendance records, and anecdotal notes to track student progress.
• Report health, safety, and behavioral concerns to administrators and appropriate agencies.
• Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators regarding student-related issues.
• Address emergency situations to ensure immediate safety and resolution.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the school.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field.
• Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate core content area certification.
• SEI (Structured English Immersion) Endorsement.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Criminal background clearance.

Skills and Abilities

• Skills: Proficiency in administering assessments, using office equipment and software, maintaining accurate records, and applying curriculum and instructional techniques.
• Knowledge: Understanding of instructional methods, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, behavioral management strategies, and assessment techniques.

Work Environment

The role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity. The position involves 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing. The job may expose the teacher to temperature extremes and some risk of injury or illness.

Position details: Full-time (1.0 FTE), non-interim role for the 2026-2027 school year (08/24/2026 - 05/27/2027).
