Duties and responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with best practices
• Implement the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals
• Use diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required
• Assist in implementing school policies and rules
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes
• Engage in professional development opportunities

Requirements

• Active Tennessee state licensure and certification - endorsement matching subject area & grade band
• Commitment to working with educationally underserved students
• Commitment to the design and development of the school
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• At least two years of teaching experience
• Masters in education / teaching content area
• Experience/strength in content area
• Highly Qualified status
• Experience teaching in an urban school and/or charter network
