2026-27 Grade 5 Teacher - Wildfire ES

Full-time (1.0 FTE) non-interim position starting 9/2/2026 at Wildfire Elementary School.

About the Role

The Grade 5 Teacher supports the instructional process by supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans within established curriculum guidelines, collaborating with staff and administrators, and communicating with parents about student progress.

Responsibilities

• Administer developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments to assess student competency and develop individual learning plans.
• Advise parents and guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
• Counsel students to improve performance, health, problem-solving techniques, and address personal issues.
• Demonstrate pedagogical approaches that engage learners and address individual student requirements.
• Differentiate classroom instruction to provide individualized learning within established lesson plans.
• Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to address individual student needs.
• Facilitate student learning to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans.
• Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
• Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Monitor students in various educational environments (classroom, playground, field trips) to ensure safety and a positive learning environment.
• Organize age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student participation.
• Participate in PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
• Attend meetings (staff, district, IEPs, 504s) to convey and gather required information.
• Prepare written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Report health and safety issues to administrators and appropriate agencies (e.g., fights, suspected abuse, substance abuse, inappropriate behaviors).
• Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators to provide information and direction.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a job-related area.
• Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate core content area certification.
• SEI (Structured English Immersion) Endorsement.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Criminal background clearance.

Skills

• Applying assessment instruments and operating standard office equipment, including software applications.
• Teaching Arizona State-recognized standards and preparing/maintaining accurate records.
• Performing algebra and geometry, reading technical information, and composing documents.
• Facilitating group discussions and analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
• Knowledge of appropriate codes, policies, regulations, age-appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, and behavioral management strategies.
• Scheduling activities, meetings, and events; gathering and classifying data.
• Adapting to changing work priorities and working flexible hours.
• Establishing constructive relationships, maintaining confidentiality, and exhibiting tact and patience.

Work Environment

The role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The job involves 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing, with exposure to temperature extremes and some risk of injury or illness.
