About the role

The Teacher - Middle School position at Explorer Middle School is designed to support the instructional process by teaching specific subjects and supervising students.

Responsibilities

• Administers subject specific assessments and tests to assess students' competencies.
• Advises parents and/or legal guardians about student progress, achievements, and methods for improvement.
• Advises students on improving performance, health status, problem-solving techniques, and personal issues.
• Affirms student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals by providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners to provide an effective program addressing individual student requirements.
• Differentiates classroom work to provide instructional materials that address individualized learning within established lesson plans.
• Directs student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
• Instructs students to improve their academic success through a defined course of study.
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students in various educational settings.
• Participates in a variety of meetings and reviews data and instructional practices with a PLC team.
• Prepares a variety of written materials such as grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc., to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Reports health and safety issues to assigned administrator and appropriate agencies.
• Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources to resolve issues, provide information, and/or direct.
• Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a job-related area.
• Arizona Teaching Certificate appropriately certified in core content area and SEI endorsement.
• Criminal Background Clearance and valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
