Project Management
- Participates in the support and updating of the Facilities Master Plan as requested.
- Maintains a Facility Condition Assessment database for the district to prioritize future projects.
- Affords assistance to others in the department with estimates and scopes of projects, both with internal resources and external consultants.
- Develops complex project cost estimates and feasibility analyses.
- Interacts with, and utilizes, accounting, procurement, and project management software.
- Communicates orally and in writing with peers, building staff, administration, parents, and community members related to project design and construction.
- Plans and manages assigned construction and deferred maintenance projects from design through completion, according to project timelines, budgets, and state and federal regulations.
- Collaborates with the assigned team for each project to make appropriate project decisions to maintain project control within scope of authority.
- Identifies events that could alter the scope, budget, and schedule of the project and develops contingency plans for meeting objectives.
Analyzes, Contracts, and Community Engagement
- Manages contracts, identifies technical issues and monitors project activities for compliance with state and federal regulations and standards, and Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) policies, goals, and objectives.
- Identifies the need for external consultants and contractors. In consultation with the department manager, negotiates contracts with the same.
- Maintains and evaluates performance of consultants and contractors.
- Evaluates, negotiates, and resolves contract and technical issues for assigned projects.
- Contributes to the Districts Strong Schools, Strong Communities efforts by partnering with other staff to contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources.
- Fosters positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through transparent communication, responsiveness, and inclusive engagement practices.
Physical/Mental Demands
- The work is sedentary to light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
- Requires standing or sitting for sustained periods of time; walking or moving from one work site to another.
- Manual dexterity to pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers.
- Mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
- Hearing to receive detailed information and to make the discrimination in sound; and the ability to express ideas and have close visual acuity.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
