2026-27 Assistant Volleyball Coach - Horizon HS
Season: August 10, 2026 – October 31, 2026. Stipend: $2,431.00.
About the role
The Assistant Volleyball Coach designs and implements program activities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, supervises student athletes during all aspects of participation, and serves as a positive role model to student athletes and the community. This position reports to the Athletic Director and is assigned to a specific level (Varsity, JV/Frosh, or Junior High).
Responsibilities
- Assess student athletes to provide feedback on individual performance and determine team placement.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences to receive and convey information related to the role.
- Communicate with parents, students, officials, administrators, and the community to provide information, assistance, and direction.
- Instruct student athletes to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Maintain records such as game/athlete statistics, insurance forms, permission slips, emergency information, schedules, and equipment inventories to comply with district, athletic conference, and state requirements.
- Manage uniforms, equipment, and school facilities to ensure items are maintained in a responsible and safe manner.
- Monitor student athletes' academic eligibility to comply with AIA requirements and provide intervention (e.g., counseling, tutoring) as needed.
- Supervise student athletes during all areas of participation to minimize risk of injury.
- Teach sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and tactics to prepare the team and individual athletes for competition.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job-related experience.
- Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Work Environment
The role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling; some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job involves 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing, with exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury or illness.
