About the Role
The Assistant Vocal Music Director designs and implements program activities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. This role involves supervising student athletes during all aspects of their participation, using sound instructional techniques, and serving as a positive role model. Individuals in this position are assigned to a specific sport at the Varsity, JV/Frosh, or Junior High level and report to the site administrator.
Responsibilities
- Assesses students to provide feedback on individual performance and determine team placement.
- Attends meetings, workshops, and conferences to receive and convey information related to the role.
- Communicates with parents, students, officials, administrators, and the community to provide information, assistance, and direction.
- Instructs student athletes to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Maintains records such as game/student athlete statistics, insurance, signed permission forms, emergency information, schedules, and equipment inventories to comply with district, athletic conference, and state requirements.
- Manages uniforms, equipment, and school facilities to maintain items in a responsible and safe manner.
- Monitors student athletes' academic eligibility to comply with AIA requirements and provide appropriate intervention (e.g., counseling, tutoring) for students needing assistance.
- Supervises student athletes during all areas of participation to ensure activities are conducted with minimal risk of injury.
- Teaches sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and tactics to prepare the team and individual student athletes for competition.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job-related experience is required.
- Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (www.azdps.gov/services/public/fingerprint).
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Skills: Ability to perform multiple, technical tasks with occasional need to upgrade skills. Includes adapting to changing work priorities, administering first aid, applying pertinent laws and regulations, and organizing and communicating information.
- Knowledge: Ability to perform basic math, interpret technical information, write technical materials, and analyze situations. Includes knowledge of equipment used in the activity/program, injury prevention, eligibility guidelines, public relations protocols, and safety practices.
- Abilities: Ability to schedule activities, gather and collate data, and work independently with diverse individuals. Includes communicating with varied educational and cultural backgrounds, handling frequent interruptions, exhibiting strong leadership, maintaining confidentiality, meeting deadlines, and motivating student athletes.
Work Environment
The role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, as well as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity. The job involves 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. It is performed under some temperature extremes and conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
