Pay

Minimum Salary: $5,000.00
Maximum Salary: $5,000.00

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (details)
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (Major sports)
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of baseball
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training
• Demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
• Work with students interested in sports, providing practice support and advice for team success
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
• Advise, coordinate, and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal

Schedule

Involves work on evenings and weekends. On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.

About the Role

This position reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals. The goal is to help athletes realize individual and team success while fostering positive character development.
