2026-2027 SY - Athletic Coach - Mid School Track - 2 positions
About the role
To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. The role involves working with students interested in sports, providing necessary practice support and advice for a team to be successful against opposing teams in a sports season.
Responsibilities
- Organize and supervise a total sports program for middle school track.
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport.
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
- Examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- Advise, coordinate, and support a staff of assistant coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
- Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
- Complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
- Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
Qualifications
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Proven coaching experience, particularly in major sports.
Pay
$4,000.00 for the spring sport season.
Schedule
Work involves evenings and weekends. On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.
Reports to: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
