2026-2027 SY - Athletic Coach - E-Sports

About the role

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. The role involves working with students interested in e-sports, providing practice support and advice to ensure team success during the sports season.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise a total e-sports program.
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport.
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
• Demonstrate behaviors that foster character development, self-discipline, and self-confidence in student athletes.
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
• Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
• Examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of e-sports.

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Proven coaching experience, preferably in major sports or e-sports.

Work Environment

• On-site attendance is mandatory.
• Work involves evenings and weekends.

Reports To

The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $2,000.00 | Maximum Salary: $2,000.00

Contract Length: Winter Sport
