2026-2027 Substitute Teachers

To become a WCPS Substitute Teacher, follow these steps:

Application Process

• Complete and submit the application in Frontline at https://www.applitrack.com/waynecountyschools/.
• Include a copy of your high school diploma, GED, two-year or four-year degree, or transcript.
• Include the Effective Teacher Certificate (24 contact hours), unless you hold an NC Teaching License.

Next Steps

• After submitting the application, email the HR Specialist at yenycpiedra@wcps.org.
• A link will be emailed to you to complete pre-employment and onboarding documents via Frontline-Central, including:
  • Health form with TB test
  • Background check information
  • Drug test information
  • Substitute verification form
  • Official transcript, high school diploma, GED, or Effective Teacher Training Certificate (or NC Teaching License)
• After submitting pre-employment documents, you will receive payroll and onboarding forms, including:
  • Direct deposit information
  • NC-4 and W-4 forms
  • Workers’ compensation information
  • I-9 form
  • Email information
  • Copy of driver’s license and Social Security card
  • Onboarding information and Frontline Absence Management access
• Once all documents are completed, the Human Resources Department will provide a new hire confirmation and issue your start date.
