About the District
Coachella Valley Unified School District covers more than 1,200 square miles of mostly rural desert terrain, serving the communities of Coachella, Thermal, Mecca, Oasis, Indio, and the Salton Sea. About the Role
It is the responsibility of the Substitute Teacher to carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans. During a prolonged absence, the substitute is responsible for performing all essential functions identified in the absent teacher's job description. Applicants offered a position will need to attend a one-day orientation.
Qualified applicants will be professional, courteous, and dedicated to providing outstanding service to students. Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Requirements
- Valid California Teaching Credential or
- Valid California 30-Day Sub Permit
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (must be posted on transcript)
- Proof of TB test and Fingerprint Clearance (required upon hire)
- Two professional letters of recommendation (dated and signed within the past year)

Pay
- $190 per day
- $215 per day for long-term assignments (10 or more consecutive days)
Schedule
On-call, part-time basis for the 2026-2027 school year.
