[2026-2027] Step Instructor

About the role

Step Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality dance instruction to students in various age groups and skill levels. The program runs full season (yearlong) and part-time/seasonal positions are available on-site in New York, NY.

Responsibilities

• Teach step classes following curriculum guidelines
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles
• Ensure safety and proper technique in all classes
• Communicate regularly with program administrators about class progress and student feedback

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Dance or related field
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience
• Strong knowledge of step and/or contemporary dance techniques
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Passion for working with youth and promoting physical activity

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities
• Experience with classroom management and behavior guidance
