About the Organization

Founded in 1995, KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. We partner with families and communities to create joyful, academically excellent schools where every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. Our network includes eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, and one high school, serving over 9,400 students with engaging academics, arts, athletics, and social-emotional learning. Through KIPP Forward, we support 4,700 alumni in navigating college, career, and life, helping them define success on their own terms.

Responsibilities

• Lead small-group instruction for grades K-4.
• Teach a rigorous academic curriculum combining the school's standards and New York State standards.
• Engage students through high-quality, exciting instruction.
• Commit to constant professional and personal growth as part of a team of teachers.
• Assess student progress consistently and communicate results to families and colleagues.
• Provide individual or small group instruction for students needing additional assistance.
• Model a "whatever it takes" spirit to ensure each student's success.
• Uphold the school's values in all communications with students, families, and staff.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills contributing to a collegial working environment, including traits such as zest, grit, hope, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.
• At least two years of teaching experience (strongly preferred).
• New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area.
• Bachelor's degree (required).
• Passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
• Strong desire to improve as a teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team.
• Demonstrated success in raising achievement levels of students from communities KIPP NYC serves.

Pay

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829 to $136,704. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale accounting for years of experience, NYS certification (initial or professional), and longevity within the KIPP network. Your placement on the teacher salary scale will be evaluated at the point of hire.

This role is based in NYC and may require travel to our schools. Relocation outside a commutable distance or out of New York State may impact employment status.
