2026-2027 Special Education Assistant XCAT (DIS)

Salary Rate: $26,280 - $41,691

Employment Days: 190 – exact daily hours to be determined by the supervisor.

• Letter of Interest

• Copy of official transcripts verifying an Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college; original official transcripts must be provided at new hire orientation; OR
• Copy of qualifying Praxis Paraprofessional test scores of 456 or higher. Applicants interested in taking the Paraprofessional Praxis exam can visit http://berkeley.schoolwires.net/Page/14574 for additional information.
• Negative TB test results under 1 year old. BCSD strongly encourages all applicants to upload their TB test results. If the test has not been completed, upload a document acknowledging that results will be provided once the test is completed. Note: A delay in submitting TB test results will postpone the onboarding process.

Paraprofessional Praxis exams are offered through Berkeley County School District and Dorchester District 2. There is a registration cost of $75 that must be submitted at the time the test is administered.
