2026-2027 School Psychologist

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited university with an emphasis in school psychology, educational psychology, or a related field preferred
  • Texas licensure as a licensed specialist in school psychology (L.S.S.P.) already received or in the application process
  • Demonstrated skillset in leading, motivating, supporting, and working collaboratively with others
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing psychological services in a school setting. This may include LSSP internship experience
  • Knowledge of Special Education service delivery

Essential Functions

  • Conduct individual, group, or facilitative counseling for both regular and special education students who have been referred for these services by appropriate school personnel
  • Maintain case records on all referred students
  • Confer with teachers and parents of students upon request
  • Provide consultation services to the teachers and supervisors of the adaptive behavior program
  • Aid parents of emotionally disturbed students through consultation and facilitation of various parent groups
  • Interprets school psychological services to school personnel and parents
  • Interfaces with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies
  • Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings as requested
  • Aid with in-service training of school personnel as requested
  • Conduct appropriate research as requested
  • Assess referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices and follow-through referred cases to the termination
  • Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) committee meetings for emotionally disturbed students and other special education students, when appropriate
  • Intervene with students in crises to successfully reduce the negative impact of stressful events
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: Frequent district-wide travel

  • Work with frequent interruptions
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
