Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited university with an emphasis in school psychology, educational psychology, or a related field preferred
- Texas licensure as a licensed specialist in school psychology (L.S.S.P.) already received or in the application process
- Demonstrated skillset in leading, motivating, supporting, and working collaboratively with others
- Minimum of one year of experience providing psychological services in a school setting. This may include LSSP internship experience
- Knowledge of Special Education service delivery
Essential Functions
- Conduct individual, group, or facilitative counseling for both regular and special education students who have been referred for these services by appropriate school personnel
- Maintain case records on all referred students
- Confer with teachers and parents of students upon request
- Provide consultation services to the teachers and supervisors of the adaptive behavior program
- Aid parents of emotionally disturbed students through consultation and facilitation of various parent groups
- Interprets school psychological services to school personnel and parents
- Interfaces with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies
- Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings as requested
- Aid with in-service training of school personnel as requested
- Conduct appropriate research as requested
- Assess referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices and follow-through referred cases to the termination
- Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) committee meetings for emotionally disturbed students and other special education students, when appropriate
- Intervene with students in crises to successfully reduce the negative impact of stressful events
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function
- Performs other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
- Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Environment: Frequent district-wide travel
