Our team educates a diverse community through a joyful, rigorous curriculum and within a structured, intentional culture, building a foundation of knowledge and habits for high school, college, and life. Paraprofessionals support Nashville Classical’s mission by expanding inclusionary opportunities for all scholars, including those with exceptional needs, working directly with scholars daily to help them access the general education curriculum and achieve IEP goals. This support occurs within general education and pull‑out classrooms, using least‑invasive interventions while holding scholars to high academic and behavioral expectations. Paraprofessionals also help implement school‑wide systems for scholar culture.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare visual supports, token boards, and other scholar materials for general education and pull‑out settings.
  • Gather relevant information and data while working with scholars to provide feedback for teachers.
  • Share performance and behavior information of individual scholars with case managers and teachers.
  • Review and reinforce learning activities using lesson plans and strategies developed by the teacher/team.
  • Adapt strategies, under direction of interventionists/case managers, to accommodate scholar needs.
  • Differentiate work as directed by IEPs to help scholars access the general education curriculum.
  • Implement work within established structures, including FBA/BIPs and other plans, with consistency.
  • Facilitate scholar learning individually and in small groups to lead or reteach lessons.
  • Provide testing accommodations for unit assessments, interim assessments, and state tests.
  • Collect, monitor, and report data on IEP implementation to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teachers and case managers to create reports and communicate with families about scholars.
  • Attend IEP and planning meetings; communicate with families and share information with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Two years of college study, an associate’s degree, or equivalent quality standards and passed assessment.
  • Experience working with elementary and/or middle‑school‑aged children.
  • RBT certification is recommended but not required.
  • Flexibility to support different areas of the special education department as needs arise.
  • Scholar‑first attitude: prioritize scholars’ safety, support, and success.
  • Collaboration skills: work with Scholar Supports and General Education teachers.

Schedule

Daily schedule: 7:30 am – 3:00 pm with approximately 30 minutes of paid planning time and a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break. The position follows a 10‑month schedule with an unpaid summer break. Paraprofessionals are also required to attend three weeks of paid professional development during the summer and school year.
