2026-2027 Lecturer Pool Department of Kinesiology

About the role

The Department of Kinesiology at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester.

Responsibilities

• Teach physical activity classes, undergraduate and laboratory courses, and master’s level courses in Kinesiology.
• Provide high-quality education to a diverse student population, including first-generation and underrepresented college students.
• May teach physical education classes for K-12 certification.
• May teach Athletic Training courses.

Requirements

• Physical activity class lecturers: Certification in a specialty such as personal training, fitness instructor, skilled activity instruction, strength and conditioning, and exercise specialist.
• Kinesiology undergraduate and laboratory lecturers: A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field.
• Athletic Training lecturers: Current NATA certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Physical activity class lecturers: A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field.
• Kinesiology undergraduate, general education, and laboratory lecturers: A Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Psychology, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
• PE teaching preparation lecturers: K through 12 PE teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Certification in a specialty, Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field, and current NATA certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Psychology, or a closely related discipline.

Pay

Lecturer and salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time assignments.
