Job Summary

Mechanicsburg Middle School seeks a JV Head Coach for Volleyball. The position requires meeting the needs and interests of the school community, providing effective leadership, and demonstrating ethical behavior. The role reports to the Director of Athletics/Director of Student Activities.

Qualifications

• MPCS staff preferred
• Knowledge and background in assigned sport
• Previous coaching experience in assigned sport is desirable

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages participation
• Assesses player's skills and assigns team positions
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time
• Works with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices and competitions
• Observes players during competition and practice to determine needs for improvement
• Determines game strategy based on team capabilities
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior
• Follows established procedures in case of an athlete's injury
• Confers with parents/guardians regarding the athletic performance of their students
• Fulfills other related duties as assigned
