About the Role

Under direction of a certified teacher, instructs students and adapts curriculum to meet needs of students.

Responsibilities

  • Administers tests and assessments
  • Makes modifications to classroom and homework for students requiring modifications
  • Assists in planning and implementing field trips
  • Provides one-on-one and/or group tutoring assistance
  • Maintains order, discipline, and interest of children
  • Escorts students to areas on campus
  • Prepares classroom for activities
  • Grades papers
  • Attends in-service training sessions
  • Tests students in various areas
  • Enters and updates student information
  • Maintains classroom bulletin boards and displays
  • Contacts parents
  • Makes copies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of educational or clerical experience
  • Licenses: Title Schools - 60 hours of secondary education or successful completion of the Paraprofessional test; Special Needs - Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)

Physical Requirements

  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Incumbents may be subjected to odors, extreme temperatures, and intense noises
