Full-time, exempt position reporting to the School Principal.

About the Role

The Physics/Chemistry Teacher instructs students, develops lesson plans, assigns and grades homework, manages classroom behavior, communicates with families, and prepares students for assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction in Physics and Chemistry through lesson plans, activities, projects, and assignments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum, educational research, and technology to address diverse learning styles and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Supervise students in hallways, cafeteria, bus areas, and at special events to ensure safety and security.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive classroom environment, upholding school discipline procedures.
  • Organize daily class time, develop weekly lessons, and prepare substitute teacher plans.
  • Maintain fair, accurate, and timely grading policies, including attendance records and progress reports.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents about schedules, assignments, and individual student needs.
  • Evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and assessments; prepare report cards.
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge aligned with their abilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters, including social media and online platforms.
  • Adhere to professional standards, ethics, and growth opportunities; collaborate with staff on instructional goals.
  • Attend in-service training, workshops, and faculty meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a related field.
  • PA High School Certification (grades 7-12) in Physics preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Understanding of child development and ability to relate to high school students.
  • Strong classroom management skills with fairness and patience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of confidentiality, credibility, integrity, and self-confidence.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and FBI Criminal Background Fingerprint Check (no less than 1 year old).
  • Completion of online Protecting God’s Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop.
  • Must be able to talk, hear, and use hands for classroom and office tasks.
  • Ability to reach and lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Vocal communication and visual acuity required for instruction and data analysis.

Schedule

Full-time, contracted position; 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. May require assistance with special duties or attendance at school-related events outside normal hours.
