Position Description

The Procurement/Purchasing Department at Manhattan University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support daily operations related to procurement, vendor management, and purchasing compliance. This position offers hands-on experience in public sector procurement processes and is ideal for a graduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Compensation

9 tuition credits per semester (fall & spring semesters only)

Job Responsibilities

  • Aid in the preparation and review of purchase requisitions and purchase orders
  • Support contract administration and maintain electronic contract files
  • Research suppliers and compare pricing to support cost-effective purchasing decisions
  • Help ensure compliance with university and state procurement regulations
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
  • Provide administrative support to Procurement department staff
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Manhattan University for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Interest in procurement, finance, or public administration preferred
  • Prior administrative or purchasing experience is a plus, but not required
