2026-2027 GENERAL RESOURCE MS TEACHER - MONACO M. J. MS

About the Role

This position is for a Special Education Generalist in a self-contained classroom setting at M. J. Monaco Middle School in Las Vegas. The role focuses on providing specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Provide direct instruction to students in a self-contained classroom environment.
• Adapt and modify general education curriculum to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents to support student success.
• Monitor and assess student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
• Manage classroom behavior and implement positive behavior support strategies.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other school-related meetings.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
• Utilize assistive technology and specialized materials to enhance student learning.
• Provide supervision and guidance to instructional aides and paraprofessionals, as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Nevada teaching license with a Special Education endorsement or ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Experience working with students with disabilities in a self-contained or inclusive setting preferred.
• Ability to develop and implement IEPs and use data to drive instructional decisions.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary educational transcript or Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) completion certificate required for application.
• Out-of-district applicants must disclose the three most recent years of work experience, including dates of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.

Location: M. J. Monaco Middle School, Las Vegas, NV (Region Three). This is a full-time, day position.
