About the Role
This is a full-time, day position for a Special Education Generalist in a self-contained middle school classroom within Region Three of the Clark County School District.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for students with diverse learning needs in a self-contained setting.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, administrators, and related service providers.
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies and interventions to support student learning and behavior.
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior supports and interventions.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to ensure student success.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school personnel regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with special education laws and best practices.
Requirements
- Valid Nevada Department of Education license with an endorsement in Special Education (Generalist or equivalent).
- Ability to obtain a middle school subject area endorsement if not already held.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a self-contained or inclusive setting preferred.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures (e.g., IDEA, IEP development, due process).
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, parents, and community members.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
