About the Role

Under general supervision of the Food Service Director or designee, perform daily food service activities, assist in the preparation of school meals, and serve meals to students and site staff. The incumbent will perform routine cleaning tasks in a school cafeteria, cooking kitchen, or production kitchen, and do related work as required.

This is the entry-level position in the food service class, typically a part-time position.

Requirements

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
• Commercial food service experience preferred
• Serve Safe certification preferred
• Physical abilities to:
  • Stand for extended periods
  • Operate kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment requiring repetitive hand movement
  • Inspect documents and other written materials
  • Move about the kitchen, cafeteria, and school site
  • Move, lift, push, and/or carry objects weighing up to 31 pounds
  • Perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, touching, and feeling
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer

Post-Offer Requirements

• Department of Justice Criminal Background Check
• TB Test within the past 60 days (Education Code 49406, Assembly Bill 1667)
• Complete district-mandated training (e.g., Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment)
• Obtain and maintain a First Aid/CPR Certificate (In-Person Training ONLY)
• Pre-Employment Physical Evaluation conducted through the District (minimum 31 pounds lifting requirement)

Pay

$20.85 to $25.33 per hour

Schedule

• 9.5-month work year
• 3.0, 3.5, or 4.0 hours per day
• 5 days a week
