2026-2027 Floating Substitute Teacher

About the Role

The Floating Substitute inspires students and staff by being an active member of the school team through:

• Embodying, advocating, and operationalizing the mission and values of the school
• Maintaining rigorous academic culture in the absence of a teacher
• Maintaining positive classroom culture across the school, modeling the use of behavior incentive and discipline systems in the absence of a staff member
• Maintaining positive school culture during critical points of the school day and year—arrival, dismissal, recess, and testing days
• Providing classroom culture support on an as-needed basis
• Taking on other tasks as needed

About Crescent City School

Crescent City School is a nonprofit Charter Management Organization whose mission is to support and develop open-enrollment charter schools that raise student achievement and prepare students for college. Crescent City School currently operates three PreK-8th grade open-enrollment charter schools: Harriet Tubman and Dorothy Height Charter Schools on the West Bank and Mildred Osborne Charter School in the Kenilworth neighborhood. The organization creates life-changing educational experiences for students and, through this work, transforms a city.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, and reach with hands and arms
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

This is an in-person role.

This role may be on the Lead Scale or the Associate Scale, depending on experience and qualifications. It may include bumps for leadership responsibilities, summer work, duties outside regular responsibilities, or longevity with Crescent City School.
