Founded in 1995, KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. We partner with families and communities to create joyful, academically excellent schools where every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. Our network includes eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, and one high school, providing students with engaging academics, arts, athletics, and social–emotional learning that prepare them for college, career, and beyond. Through KIPP Forward, we support over 4,700 alumni as they navigate college, career, and life.

About the role

KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, to develop academic as well as character skills, and to make a college preparatory education relevant both now and for the future.

Responsibilities

• Teach a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that combines the school’s standards and the New York State standards
• Teach students in a high-quality, exciting way
• Commit to constant professional and personal growth through working closely as part of a team of teachers
• Use data to drive decisions
• Constantly assess student progress and communicate results to families and colleagues
• Provide individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance
• Model KIPP NYC’s character strengths in all interactions and communications with students, families, and staff

Requirements

• At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred
• New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area is strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor
• A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture

Pay

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829 - $136,704. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network.

This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. Relocation outside of a commutable distance or out of New York State may impact employment.
