About the role

The Classroom Teacher provides scholars with high-quality, standards-based instruction rooted in engaging, culturally relevant, and data-informed pedagogy. Teachers create strong classroom communities, build meaningful relationships with scholars and families, and focus deeply on academic growth and scholar success.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction that is standards-based, engaging, rigorous, and culturally relevant
• Use assessment data to inform instruction and support scholar growth
• Develop positive and productive relationships within the classroom community and with staff members and Legacy families
• Create a safe and productive learning environment through strong classroom routines and procedures
• Implement restorative practices and support scholars’ social-emotional learning
• Demonstrate respect for diverse people, ideas, and perspectives
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community

Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
• Two or more years of full-time teaching experience, ideally in an urban school setting
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required
