About the role

Powell Middle School is seeking an Athletic Director to oversee all aspects of the middle school athletic program.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all middle school athletic programs including scheduling, coaching, and facilities management.
• Ensure compliance with state and district regulations regarding athletics.
• Work closely with coaches, students, parents, and community members to promote a positive athletic culture.
• Manage team rosters and ensure proper registration procedures are followed.
• Coordinate with other school staff to ensure safe practices and facilities are available for athletes.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve athletic performance and participation rates.
• Handle emergency situations such as injuries and weather-related cancellations.
• Manage budget and resources for athletic programs.
• Communicate regularly with the principal and other administrators about athletic matters.

Requirements

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Florida Educator's Certificate in any subject (non-competitive cheerleading coaches are exempt).
• First aid training concepts, injury prevention, CPR.
• Willingness to devote time before and after school hours.
• Must complete Hernando County School District required 20 hour Sports First Aid course through Human Kinetics.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing athletic programs at the middle school level.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Skills

• Knowledge of Florida Education Law and policies.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
