Contract Length: Spring Sport
Salary: $8,250.00

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (how to apply)
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
• Previous successful coaching experience in track
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of track and field
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success
• Demonstrate and instruct behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
• Work with students interested in track, providing practice support and advice for team success
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
• Advise, coordinate, and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal

Work Environment

• On-site attendance is mandatory
• Evening and weekend work required
• Reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals
