About This Role
Red Caboose Child Care in Madison, WI is hiring a 2 Year Old Teacher to support daily operations at an early childhood education center. This position offers $11 – $20/Hr and requires relevant professional experience.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the child’s learning and growth, while meeting the standards of the Red Caboose, Licensing, and Accreditation.
- Plans, evaluates, and improves the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child on an ongoing basis.
- Demonstrates cultural competency, inclusiveness, and respect for the child and family’s background by incorporating their cultural, linguistic, and familial values and beliefs in the childcare program and lesson plans.
- Assists families in the transition and development of their child to prepare them for the next classroom.
- Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child abuse hotline – Mandated Reporter.
- Covers supervision of children on a daily and weekly basis.
- Covers supervision of Assistant Teacher on a daily and weekly basis.
- Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to Program Director and/or Executive Director in a timely manner.
- Fulfills other duties as established within Red Caboose, Licensing and Accreditation Standards, in accordance with our Team Philosophy.
- Staff must believe and act in accordance with Red Caboose’s Mission Statement.
Written Documentation
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely client and agency records – For example, completing daily meal, attendance, health, and incident reports in a timely manner and filling in appropriate files.
- Maintains up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profiles, and other records as needed.
Collaboration
- Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings.
- Engages in open conversation regularly with parents and other staff regarding the child’s status and progress.
- Fosters and maintains positive, ongoing, and open communication with parents/Caregivers.
- Provides a classroom experience that encourages parent participation.
- Ensures regular newsletters are sent to parents as part of the communication process in the classroom.
Curriculum
- Assesses individual and group needs, attending to special needs, specific interests, strengths, and concerns.
- Develops a learn-by-play curriculum that allows children to use their imagination and grow their skills from play and interaction.
- Develops Lesson Plans weekly that are developmentally appropriate, intellectually challenging, and help each individual child grow.
- Prepares classroom materials to coincide with weekly and daily goals and lesson plans.
Nice to Have
- Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
