About the role

Serve the public by helping keep Ohio’s roads safe through highway maintenance tasks and snow/ice operations, with training to obtain a CDL if needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure (if not already a licensed CDL holder).
• Perform highway maintenance activities, including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing.
• Perform snow and ice operations.

Requirements

• Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; must obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and without airbrake restriction within six (6) months of permanent hire date.
• Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction, decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 months of training or 3 months of experience operating basic equipment; valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement and without airbrake restriction.

Pay

Highway Maintenance Worker 1: $21.48 per hour; Highway Technician 1: $22.29 per hour.
