1st Showcase 2021
About the Event
The inaugural joint showcase between NCI and Intersect Australia, titled AI/ML in Materials Design and Discovery, features four peak presentations highlighting state-of-the-art research aimed at accelerating materials design and discovery through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques.
Australian and international speakers will demonstrate how large, high-quality datasets combined with machine learning analysis algorithms can significantly advance the discovery of new materials. This event is of broad interest to scientists in the field of HPC/Big Data for materials design and discovery, including advanced graduate students, early career researchers, and beyond.
Presentations
- Prof. Kristin Persson, UC Berkeley Data-Driven Materials Innovation & Design; Examples from the Materials Project
- Prof. Shyue Ping Ong, UC San Diego, Jacobs School of Engineering Accelerating Materials Design through Automation and Machine Learning
- Prof. Amanda Barnard (ANU) Classification, Correlation and Causation of Defects in Graphene Oxide Nanomaterials (no video)
- Prof. Nicola Marzari, École Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) The great acceleration in the design and discovery of novel materials
Chair: Professor Michelle Spencer (RMIT)
