Position Summary
The Welding Plant Supervisor (1st Shift 600am-230pm) supervises activities of the Steel Fabrication-Welding Team, which fabricates conveyor steel products for material handling projects. Overseeing and organizing, the welding equipment and processes on the production floor.
Ideal Candidate
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring Sponsorship
- Available to work on-site daily in Hobart, Indiana
- Available to work 3rd shift hours 900pm-530am (Saturdays/OT will be required as well)
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, formulas, and data analysis tools
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality output

- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting
Salary Range
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00

Job duties
- Leads the daily work of the team, including scheduling staff, planning and assigning work, implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring efficient work flow
- Direct employees in meeting quality and on-time delivery requirements, address production challenges, and communicate issues to relevant managers
- Follows the dispatch due dates and sends reports with updates on the end of your shift to your manager and plant manager
- Partner with production department in managing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their responsibilities and delegated tasks
- Lead 6S improvements with your manager and direct employess to reach the goal of 90 points
- Provides technical guidance to team members and consults with other resources when needed
- Communicates with the Manager regarding schedules and backlogs
- Assists the Manager with selection and performance management of employees and recommending compensation
- Recommends equipment upgrades, staffing adjustments, improvements in procedures and working conditions, and process modifications
- Maintains employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching
- Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching
- Ensures that employees are progressing on training plans to achieve higher levels of performance and production
- Evaluates employee performance
- Responsible for first line employee relations and resolution of issues within their departments
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a steel fabrication environment
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with steel fabrication-welding
- Certificate or Associate’s degree in welding
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of welding procedures, operation, and set-up of all equipment, reading and interpreting blueprints, and creating jigs and fixtures
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and 6S principles
- Knowledge of quality principles
- Computer skills
- Supervisory skills
- Ability to deal with conflicts and employee issues in a professional manner
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
