1ST SHIFT WELDER- SPOKANE, WA

About the role

We are seeking skilled Welders and/or Fitters (knowledge of both is a plus) to work at our Spokane, WA facility. The primary responsibilities include performing FCAW (2G) welding, operating air arc, grinding, reading weld symbols, setting machines according to procedure charts, and other duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform FCAW (2G) welding and pass the 2G test on 1” thick coupon.
• Operate air arc to remove steel (back gouging).
• Grind with 90° angle grinder.
• Read and follow weld symbols and check weld size using weld fillet gauges.
• Heat material to required temperature using temperature sticks and torches.
• Set machines according to procedure charts.
• Use air chipper to chip off slag.
• Use natural gas propane heaters to pre-heat steel.
• Operate stud welder.
• Follow weld procedures as per volts, amps, and wire feed speed.
• Heat, straighten, and know when to use pre-heat to offset distortion.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. over shoulder height.
• Be able to read blueprints.
• FCAW (2G).
• Be able to read weld symbols and be familiar with weld procedures.
• Familiarity with WP1 (manual shielded metal arc welding of carbon steel), WP2 (Flux cored arc welding of carbon steel), and WP3 (Flux cored arc welding with gas shielding of carbon steel).
• Two or more years’ experience in manufacturing in the steel fabrication industry preferred.
• Proficiency and use of software, equipment, machines, tools, electronic devices necessary for job: Air arc, 90° angle grinder, crane, heating torch, cutting torch.

Shift Times

• Monday-Thursday: 5:00am-3:30pm
• Friday: 5:00am-1:30pm
