1st shift Warehouse Team Leader
Position Summary
A Warehouse Team Leader serves as the vital link between management and floor staff, ensuring that all warehouse activities run smoothly, safely, and on schedule. In this role, you are responsible for supervising a team of operatives to meet daily targets for receiving, picking, packing, and shipping goods. You act as a "player-coach," spending the majority of your time on the floor to monitor workflow, solve immediate technical issues with equipment or software, and ensure every team member follows strict safety protocols. Your primary objective is to maintain high levels of productivity and inventory accuracy while fostering a motivated, disciplined work environment.
Essential Job Functions
Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of 10–30 warehouse operatives. This includes training new hires on proper procedures, assigning tasks, and managing performance through coaching and feedback.
Operational Management: Oversee picking, packing, shipping, and receiving processes. You must monitor workflow, adjust labor usage based on volume, and ensure all daily orders are completed and shipped on time.
Inventory Control: Maintain stock accuracy through regular cycle counts, physical audits, and reconciliation with inventory management systems.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, conduct "toolbox talks," and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and health and safety regulations.
Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and implement efficient practices to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
What YOU Need
1 to 3 years of experience in a leadership role
Critical thinking, planning, and coordination skills
Ability to operate equipment with various controls and adjustments
Commitment to the overall safety of the work environment
Ability to climb and work in elevated areas
Ability to lift up 60lbs and stand for extended periods of time
Basic math, reading and computer skills
Able to communicate effectively through verbal and written forms
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Attention to detail
