Monitors for defective materials and maintains a clean work area. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor. Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Performs typical press operations to support the assembly floorDetects and reports defective materials, miss hits, and questionable conditions to the department supervisorMaintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulationsTests restraints and other safety equipmentWear all PPEDevelop the ability to operate a variety of press machinesMonitor own work to ensure qualityPerform job with minimal scrap or reworkPossess a “mind-set” that commitment of excellence and plant safety are the most important goalsWork performed in a plant environmentRegularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise and sharp materialEmployee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals in English.Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feels objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk, hear, taste and smell.Safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, plant approved gloves, long pants, short or long-sleeved shirts required. No tank tops or sleeveless shirtsMust be able to lift and/or move more than 10 to 25 pounds.Pushing and pulling, Bending and twisting at the waist, bending at the elbow, lifting from the floor, Turning of the headUnder no circumstances is anyone allowed to operate the press machine without knowledge and understanding of the duties and responsibilities required for the safe operation of this machine.
