About the role

The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, and distributing material and products within the establishment. You will read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

Responsibilities

  • Transport materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence (size, type, style, color, or product code).
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distribute items to production areas.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets.
  • Mark materials with identifying information.
  • Open bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Drive material handling equipment (certification required).
  • Transport stored items within the warehouse.
  • Load and unload trailers of palletized and non-palletized product.
  • Utilize manual and automated material handling equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
  • Maintain a clean work area, remove trash, and store supplies in designated areas.
  • Keep work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstructions.
  • Follow safe lifting/carrying procedures and report defective equipment.
  • Report all job-related injuries to supervision.
  • Take photos of incoming or outgoing loads and log items and pictures for documentation.
  • Use computer systems to enter records.
  • Climb and work at heights of material tanks where applicable (e.g., checking seals, taking samples).
  • Prepare and take cycle count inventory of merchandise; record counts on cycle count sheets.
  • Support and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 5S (sort, set, shine, standardize, and sustain).
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with Oracle or similar WMS system.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a warehouse position.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime as required.

Pay

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
