Material Handler - 1st shift (Sat - Wed)

About the Role

We are seeking a Material Handler for a 10-month contract position in Covington, GA. The work week is 5 days (Saturday - Wednesday) with 8-hour shifts from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. The pay range is $16-$20/hr.

Responsibilities

• Uses equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, cranes, handcarts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products within a warehouse.
• Unloads trucks and stacks pallets, handling items under 25 lbs (some weigh less than 5 lbs).
• Verifies labels on boxes and matches them to pallets, requiring strong attention to detail.
• Performs scanning tasks and operates a stand-up forklift.
• Maintains records and adheres to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Zero to one year of warehouse experience or related training.
• Basic skills training in material handling, logistics, or manufacturing production.
• Effective communication skills and ability to understand instructions from co-workers and supervisors.
• Ability to read, write, interpret, and comprehend documents in English and perform basic math calculations.
• General computer skills.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, balance, climb, lift, crouch, reach, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, and twist.
• Frequent use of hands for fingering, handling, feeling, picking, or typing, including repetitive motion.
• Ability to lift and/or move over 50 lbs.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme weather conditions, vibration, high places, and fumes/airborne particles.
• Work environment is hot in summer (no AC) and cold in winter (limited heating) with moderate to loud noise levels.
